Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Arizona

Sept 22     Cortez, Co - Page, AZ       225 miles    5 hours

It took us about 5 hours to make this drive today. We passed thru four corners but didn't stop. This is where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona meet. We did stop in Kayenta for lunch. Tonight we're camping at Walmart in Page, Arizona.

We took a drive out to the Glen Canyon Dam and did the tour there. Great tour and only $5.

Sept 23

This morning we went on the Lower Slot Canyon tour with Ken's Tour. It was $28 per person and very well worth it. Our guide was really, really good. The views in the canyon change constantly as the sun moves across the sky. There were a lot of steel ladders anchored into the canyon walls. There were also a lot of narrow places to go thru. Amazing!!! I would recommend this tour for anyone visiting this area.

After the tour we moved from Walmart parking lot to Lone Rock Beach in the Glen Canyon Recreation Area. About 18 miles down the road. We are dry camping for $10 per nite. This beach is really neat because a lot of people drive all the way to the shore to camp out. Kind of scary because there's a lot of soft sand so a lot of people get stuck.  We played it safe and camped on a hill overlooking the beach. The views were amazing. We did take the Kia down to the beach but Joe was real cautious. We had to go thru some soft sand but the Kia made it and it was fun. The water was real nice and cool.

I love it here, wish we could spend another night but we have reservations at a campground in Zion National Park tomorrow.
