We're so excited to start this trip. For the first part of this trip, we'll be traveling with our friends for a couple of weeks. Wes & Georgene will rent their own RV and we'll be visiting a few awesome destinations. Then we'll make our way to Reno for our grandsons baseball tournament.
May 25 Las Vegas, NV - Grand Canyon, AZ 276 miles 6 hours
We're at Trailer Village Campground in Grand Canyon National Park for 3 nights, $84.25 per night. We were assigned sites right next to Wes & Georgene. This campground is very convenient to everything in the park. Full hookups with elk constantly roaming by.
We took the shuttle along the rim to Hermits Rest. Then on the way back, hiked along the rim for a bit. It was really nice. Packed our lunch and found a place to stop along the rim trail and just soak in the beautiful views of the Grand Canyon.
Desert View Watchtower is located on the eastern part of Grand Canyon National Park. The stone tower was built in 1932 and is 7 stories high. It sits on the edge of the South Rim and is praised for its unique architecture, Native American art, and stunning views. This area is less packed than the central South Rim areas. We really enjoyed visiting Desert View Watchtower.
We managed to get in a bike ride. Joe and I rode from our campground all the way to South Kaibab Point. Then we switched off and Georgene and I rode for a bit. Breathtaking views riding along the rim, we need to bust out our bikes more often.
May 28 Grand Canyon - Page, AZ 148 miles 3 hours
We're camping at Lone Rock Beach Campground for 2 nights. It's dry camping and with our Sr. park pass we paid $7 per night. This is a really big area and you can pretty much park and camp wherever you want. We camped at the top overlooking the beach like we always do.
Ken's Lower Antelope Canyon tour was the highlight for this area. We made reservations for the 5pm 1 hour tour. The cost was $55 plus taxes and fees, total $73.18 per person. Kind of expensive but very well worth it.

Later that afternoon, we went down to Lone Rock beach and took a dip....so refreshing.
May 30 Page, AZ - Bryce, UT 142 miles 3 hours
We're at Ruby's Inn & Campground for 3 nights. We're in the newer section in site #225, very huge site with plenty of room. The cost is $75.26 per night, total $225.79 for full hook ups. After settling in, we took a drive out to Inspiration Point and admired the hoodoos. Dinner was at Ruby's Inn. We like the buffet here, costs $26 per person. We enjoyed our dinner, pot roast was excellent.

We hiked the Navajo Loop Trail. We always do this hike. Iconic trail with many switchbacks. When you get to the bottom its a different way of viewing the hoodoos. It's so scenic with views everywhere. We had to rest a lot on the way back up the switchbacks. We don't mind, its so beautiful.

June 2 Bryce - Springdale, UT 148 miles 3 hours
We have 4 nights at Watchman Campground in Zion National Park. Only electric hookups here and with the Sr discount the cost is $22.50 per night.

We walked the Riverside Walk to the beginning of The Narrows. The weather forecast for the next few days are kind of junky with thunderstorms and lightning here and there. I really wanted to hike the Narrows but with the weather being so bad, there's always a chance of flashfloods. Not worth the risk.

We also managed to fit in a bike ride.
June 6 Springdale, UT - Las Vegas, NV 174 miles 2 hours 20 minutes
We're back in Vegas. Spending 2 nights at Las Vegas RV Resort. This part of the RV trip has come to an end. We had a really nice time with Wes & Georgene and loved showing them what traveling in an RV is all about. I think they enjoyed themselves......can't wait for the next one.
June 8 Las Vegas - Tonopah, NV 231 miles 4 hours 25 minutes
We left very early this morning. Drove over 4 hours and camped out at Millers Rest Area in Tonopah. This is about the halfway point to Reno. Big area to park, no trucks allowed so very quiet. There were 2 other trailers that camped. Good stop, we would stay here again.
June 9 Tonopah - Washoe, NV 222 miles 4 hours 30 minutes
We're staying 4 nights at Washoe Lake State Park. We are in site #20, electric and water, $31.25 per day. This is a very nice park. Quiet and very scenic with huge sites. The best sites are on the outside of the circle. Site #10 looks the best but anything along the outside is pretty good.
We played tourist and visited Carson City and Virginia City. We really enjoyed Virginia City, we didn't get a chance to walk around but I would love to go back & walk the town.
We took a drive out to Lake Tahoe. We parked at Incline Village and got our bikes out. We rode out to Sand Harbor, such a beautiful ride on a very nice bike path. When we got to Sand Harbor it was $3 to enter. We decided not to go in because it was pretty chilly and we weren't going swimming. Cars paid $10 to enter this park. We ended up driving around the whole lake. It was a nice drive. We attempted to stop at Emerald Bay but it was so crowded. We couldn't find parking, what a bummer...
June 13 Washoe - Sparks, NV 32 miles 1 hour
We're at Sparks Marina RV Park for 8 nights. Our grandson JJ has a baseball tournament in Sparks and this is the closest RV park. Kind of pricey, it's $71 per night but it's pretty nice. There's a park across the street with a lake that we can walk around, next to the park is a casino and a shopping mall. So very convenient with lots to do.
On the first night there, we went to the Reno Aces Baseball game. The ball park is walking distance from Circus Circus. This is where Josh and JJ is staying with their baseball team. Tickets were about $35 each. It was fun, JJ ended up catching a ball.
Saturday, June 14th was the first day of the tournament. We won 2 games today, so proud of these kids.
Our team ended up doing very well in this tournament. I think they surprised themselves. At the awards ceremony, everyone received a participation ring. Three players from each team was selected as all stars, voted by other coaches. JJ was recognized as one of the all stars. So proud of this kid.
We spent the last week with Josh and JJ and really enjoyed it. It was pretty busy with the baseball tournament and they did a lot with the team but we still managed to hang out. They spent the last 2 nights camping out with us in the RV.
June 22 Sparks, NV - Mammoth Lakes, CA 171 miles 4 hours
We're at Mammoth Mountain RV Park for 2 night. It's expensive here, $94 per night for electric & water. It's a good location to visit Mammoth Lakes. We drove to Horse shoe lake and parked, then did a 7 mile bike ride around Mammoth Lakes. It's so beautiful, the bike paths are really nice.

We did a really nice hike to 3 lakes. We started at Lake George, then on to Lake Barrett, and finally to TJ Lake. There was some elevation, we had to rest a lot but the scenery was stunning.

After 2 nights, we found another place to camp. It's a national forest campground in Inyo National Forest. The campground is called Old Shady Rest Campground. Dry camping, set in pine trees, really peaceful. It cost $16 per night with the Sr pass. We spent 5 nights here and had 3 different sites. All were really nice with lots of room. Sites #18 & 19 were probably the best fit for us.
Mammoth Lakes is a convenient location to explore the area. We drove to Convict Lake and did a hike around the lake. At the end of the hike, I had to jump in. Water was cold but so refreshing.

Drove out to Yosemite National Park. The eastern side of Yosemite is so beautiful. The drive through Tioga Pass is stunning. Did a couple of short hikes.

We ended up spending a week in Mammoth Lakes. Summer time is so beautiful and the temperature is wonderful. We'll definitely come back.
June 29 Mammoth Lakes, CA - Las Vegas, NV 579 miles 7 hours
We're back in Las Vegas. I was not looking forward to coming back to Vegas because its 107 degrees during the day. It will be the same for the next few days. We have 2 nights at Las Vegas RV Resort then will stay at Sunset Station for 2 nights, and then fly back to Hawaii.
This RV trip was about 6 1/2 weeks and we did a lot! We put 1,926 miles on the RV. We had a lot of fun and we did something different, having our friends rent an RV and join us was so awesome. Then traveling to Reno for JJ's baseball tournament was something we both really enjoyed.
