First trip for 2025!

We're so excited to get going! It's been 3 1/2 months since our last RV trip. We'll be spending  a month at Caliente Springs Resort in Desert Hot Springs, California. Then in mid March, our family will meet us in Las Vegas and we'll  be driving to Brian Head, Utah for some skiing. This trip should last about 2 months.

15 Feb     Las Vegas, NV - Desert Hot Springs, CA       295 miles   6 hours  15 mins

We're back at Caliente Springs Resort for a month. It's a 55+ resort and we've been coming here for years. The mineral pools and spas are fed by natural hot springs. That's the big thing here, soaking in the mineral waters and socializing in the pools.

We have a standard site for the month that cost $1100. Electric is separate and will be charged at the end of our stay. Our site #238 is in a good location and not too far from the clubhouse where the pools are located.

When we come to Caliente Springs, we feel like we're at summer camp. Here's what our typical day looks like for us.....

We both enjoy playing pickleball. We play almost every morning at 8am. After pickleball we come home to have something to eat and rest, maybe do some chores or errands. At 230pm I'm off to the pool for waterball. It's actually volleyball in the pool and its a huge thing at this park. There's waterball play 3 times a day but I just play the 230pm session. While I play waterball, Joe will make his way to the pool to soak and talk story. After I'm done with waterball I join him and we soak and talk story until we're wrinkled. Then we go home, have dinner and plan to do the same thing the next day. What a life!

I learned a new card game called Canasta. I play that twice a week in the evening. I also learned how to play Mahjong. There's so many other activities going on here I wish I could find time to do a lot more.

In past visits we've golfed at the 3 par 9 hole golf course they have on property, I've done yoga, water aerobics, line dancing, and zumba. There's so much activities going on, something for everyone.

We see a lot of the same people every year and have made friends. A lot of them are snowbirds from Canada that comes south for the season. Most of the people we play with are much older than us. Some are well into their eighties and still, very active. This lifestyle works!

We took a ride one day out to Pioneertown. An 1880s themed town developed as a shooting location for actors working on western films and TV series.

Then on to Joshua Tree National Park for a nice scenic drive and a couple of short hikes.

15 Mar    Desert Hot Springs, CA - Las Vegas, NV     320 miles

We enjoyed our time at Caliente Springs but it's time to move on. We'll be staying at Main Street Station RV park for 3 nights, kind of expensive $196. Its not the best place to stay but our kids will be flying in tomorrow and have rooms at the Cal. So very convenient to have this park so close.

We went to the Tournament of Kings show at Excalibur. We did this 2 years ago, the kids really enjoy this show. We were supposed to drive to Brian Head on Tuesday March 18 but a snow storm came through so we had to extend for one more day in Las Vegas.

19 Mar  The weather cleared up and we finally made it to Brian Head. The cabin we rented was very nice. 5 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, game room downstairs, and a hot tub outside. Lots of room for everyone. 5 nights cost us a little over $4100. Just a few minutes from the ski resort, very convenient.

We skied and snowboarded as much as we could. JJ and Jade has improved so much from the first time. They both love it.

Our kids spent another couple of days in Las Vegas before flying back to Honolulu. I went to a Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey game with Josh and his family. First game for all of us. What an experience, so much fun....and they won!

Our whole family went to Pop Stroke. This miniature golf course offers two 18-hole courses, corn hole, ping pong, and a large connect 4 game. There's a restaurant and bar and they even deliver drinks to the hole you're on. Prices are not bad, the day pass was $35 for adults, kids $22, seniors $21.

Our family spent 10 days together on this vacation. So much fun making memories.....

29 Mar  Las Vegas, Nevada - Ivins, Utah        134 miles     3 hrs

We're spending a week at Hidden Springs RV Resort in Ivins, Utah. This is part of St George, Utah. It's a new campground still being completed. We stayed in Homestead Hollows section, out site was #34 and we paid $481 for the week. The daily rate here is $75. This is kind of expensive but we thought we'd splurge and try out this new park.

This is a very family oriented park. When we came in on Saturday, the park was pretty full with lots of families with lots and lots of kids. Very friendly people working here but not sure if we'll return. We're old futs and like the quiet 55+ parks.

St. George has a lot of paved bike paths. We got out our Ebikes and took a few rides.

We went to Snow Canyon State Park.  This is a hidden gem right outside of St. George. $15 to enter but well worth it. It's an amazing place to hike and explore. There's a short paved bike trail about 4 miles. We got there a little late in the day and a lot of the parking areas were full. We finally found a place to park, got out our bikes, and went for a scenic ride.

We took a drive out to Kolob Canyon. This is located in the Northwest corner of Zion National Park near I-15. The 5 mile scenic road climbs past spectacular red rocks and canyons.

The Anasazi Trail is located close to the RV park that we're staying at. Gradual uphill hike about 1 mile. At the top a little bit of rock scrambling to look for petroglyphs. They were made by native americans thousands of years ago. It was a pretty busy trail, we enjoyed it.

05 Apr    Ivins, Utah - Las Vegas, Nevada        135 miles     3 hours

We're back at Las Vegas RV Resort for a couple of nights. Getting the RV ready to put back in storage. Then we got a couple of nights at Sunset Station, then flying to Honolulu.

Another great RV trip has come to an end. We were gone for 2 months this time and put 884 miles on our rig. We loved that our family joined us for skiing in Brian Head. Always trying to make memories that will last a life time.....
