2024

Our RV travels in 2024 has been very limited. Our family has a lot going on.

On January 30th, our daughter gave birth to her second child. Bodey was born 5 weeks early due to some complications with the pregnancy but thank God, everything turned out fine. Blake is adjusting to being a big brother.

Our son and daughter in law welcomed their third child in April. This was a big surprise to everyone because JJ is 9 years old and Jade is 7. Jacey was born on April 19th and is such a bundle of joy.

Joe's mom is getting older and having some issues with dementia. The brothers and family are all helping with checking on her and making sure she's okay. This is the main reason for us to slow down this year with our RV travels.

28 Feb     Las Vegas - Desert Hot Springs, CA        253 miles   6 1/2 hours

We're at Caliente Springs RV Resort in Desert Hot Springs, Ca. We've been here many times and really enjoy the amenities. It's like summer camp for adults....we play all day! Pickleball in the morning, waterball (volleyball in the pool) in the afternoon and lots of time soaking in the mineral spring pools. There's also golf on property and lots of hikes in the surrounding area.

Joe & 83 yr old Bob

Over the years, we've made a lot of friends. Lots of snowbirds from Canada come down for the season so we see the same people every year. There's a lot of residents that we have become friends with too. Some of them are well into their eighties!

Our friends Celine and Dave is from Ontario, Canada and have been coming here for years. Celine is dealing with cancer and I'm not sure if she's going to be able to travel next spring. So nice to spend  time with her. She loves to play pickleball so we try to play as much as we can. Another couple we see every year is Shelly and Phil from California. We connected right  away because Shelly grew up in Hawaii.

Our site

We're here for a month and have a standard site for $1073. Electric is charged separately and will run about $100. It sounds like a lot but it breaks down to $36 per day which is good. The daily rate is around $70. Our site is #241 but the better site would've been #240 because there's a partial white fence for privacy.

I hope we can continue coming out here for a long time. Having an active lifestyle is so important as we continue to get older.

16 May      Las Vegas

This was a short 2 1/2 week trip to Las Vegas. We stayed at Las Vegas RV Resort. The main reason for this trip was to help my sister Dana sell her RV. Dana and Michael bought our old RV four years ago but Michael passed away from cancer last October. So Dana decided to sell.

Our friends Goody and Donna who lives in Arizona bought Dana's RV. Everything went smoothly and everyone's happy with the deal.

Dana's daughter Daylin and her husband Harry came to Las Vegas to help out too. We took a drive one day to Valley of Fire to do some hiking. It was a little hot but we still managed to do a couple of hikes. So nice to spend time with Daylin and Harry.

This was a super short trip but it was nice to get away.
